UIKit Slider without prev/next links

It seems that the UIkit slider that is currently shipping with Beans does not produce the forward/next links that one can see in the docummentation (link)

An example would be here in the testimonials section.

Anyone experiencing the same limitations?

I don't see any HTML for the navigation in the link you posted. Check this example to see what the HTML structure should be used.
